Crisp Autumn Shawl Free Pattern

You will need: 
Hook size 2.25mm.
Berroco Folio in 4524. Rust.





Pattern:

I found this Stacked Diamonds stitch in Donna Kooler's Encyclopedia of Crochet, and thought it would be a perfect match for a shawl, indeed it worked wonderfully, here is the Tutorial that I am sharing with you my fellow Crochet lovers, perfect for the end of summer nights and beginning of fall evenings.

Here is the Diagram, from Donna Kooler and step by step instructions are from me to you, I hope you enjoy my fellow Crochet artists.

Ch 311,


Row 1: 4sc,

[ ch7, sk 5 st, 7sc] all along.




end with ch7, sk 5st, 4sc, turn
Row 2: ch, 3sc,

[ch5, sc in 4th ch of ch from previous row, ch5, sk 1 sc, 5sc,] all around, turn


Row 3: ch, 2sc,
  [ ch5, sc in 5th ch from previous row, sc, sc in 1th ch from previous row, ch5, sk 1st sc 3sc] repeat all along, end with 2sc, turn



Row 4: ch, [sc, ch5, 5sc, ch5] all along, sc, turn



Row 5: ch7, [sc in last ch from ch5 from previous round, 6sc, 7ch, ] all along after lasc 6sc, ch3 and tr in last sc of the row, turn







Row6: ch, sc in first st, 5ch, [sk first sc from previous row, 5sc, ch5, sc in middle st from ch5 from previous row, ch5] all along, end with  ch5, sc in last sc from row, turn






Row 7 : ch, 2sc, ch5, [sk first sc from previous row, 3sc, ch5, sc in last ch from ch5, 2sc, ch5] all along end with ch5, 2sc, turn.




Row 8: ch, 3sc, ch5, [sc the second of 3 sc from previous round, ch5, sc in last ch from ch5 from previous round, 4sc, ch5] all along , end with ch5, 3sc, turn.



First Decrease:

Row 9:  [ ch7, sk 5 st, 7sc] all along. end with ch7, sc in last st from row.turn.




Row 10: [ch5, sc in middle of ch7 from previous row, ch5, sk first sc from previous row, 5sc], all along, end with sc in middle of ch7 from previous row, ch5, sc in last st, turn.




Row 11: ch, sc, ch5, [sc in last ch from ch5 from previous row, 2sc, ch5, sk first sc from previous row, 3sc, ch5] all along. end with ch5, sc in last st, turn






Row 12: ch, sc, [ch5, sc in last ch from ch5 from previous row, 4sc, ch5, sc in second sc from previous row,] all along. end with ch5, sc in last st, turn.



Row 13: ch, sc, ch7, [sc in last ch from ch5 from previous row, 6sc, ch7] all around, end with a ch7, sc in last st, turn.




Row 14: ch, sc, ch5, [sc in last ch from ch5 from previous row, 4sc, ch5, sc in middle of ch7 from previous row, ch5] all along, end with ch5, sc in last st, turn





Row 15: ch, sc,[ch5 , sk a sc from previous row, 3sc, 5ch, sc in last ch from ch5 from previous row, 2sc] all along, end with ch5, sc in last st.turn


Row 16: ch, sc, [ch5, sk sc from previous row, sc, ch5, sc in last ch from ch5 from previous row, 4sc] all along, end with a ch5, sc in last st, turn



Next Decrease:

Row 17: ch, sc, ch7, [sc in last ch from ch5 from previous row, 6sc, ch7] all along



 Your work will look like so....

Row 18: ch5, sk sc from previous row, 5sc, ch5, sc in middle of ch7 from previous row, end with ch5 sc in last ch.turn


Row 19: ch, sc, [ch5 , sk a sc from previous row, 3sc, 5ch, sc in last ch from ch5 from previous row, 2sc] all along, end with ch5, sc in last st.turn

Row 20: ch, sc, [ch5, sk sc from previous row, sc, ch5, sc in last ch from ch5 from previous row, 4sc] all along, end with a ch5, sc in last st, turn



Row 21 to136 , repeat row 17 to 20.























 You will end up with one last pattern diamond, last row is a ch5, dc, in sc from previous row, ch5, sl st fasten off.







From right side of Base ch of your shawl, sl st, pick up 182 sc, 3sc in point st, pic up 182 sc from other side,





Begin edging when reaching beginning st of base ch.
You will be working in the round.



Round 1: [Ch5, sk 2 st, sc] all along, when reaching a point,












Round 2: ch5, sc in ch5 from previous round, [ch, dc in next ch5 from previous round] 6 times, ch, sc in ch5 from previous round, repeat from * to * untill you reach the first corner.






Round 3: *ch2, sc in ch5 from previous round, [ch2, dc in dc from previous round], 6 times, * Repeat from * to * all around.







Round 4: *[sc in ch2 sp from previous round] twice, [in ch2 sp between the dc from revious round, sc, ch3 sc] 5 times*, repeat from * to* all around.





Fasten off.
